An original, a semi-original and an interpretation

Three necklaces from Morocco. The first from the left, from Ait Ouarzguit, was restrung with some additional elements, the one in the middle, also from the Ait Ouarzguit group, has the original stringing. The one on the right is a creation by Faouzi of Marrakech, from old elements.

  • Here's the photo of the Ait Ouarzguit necklace, on the left, in its original (?) configuration. The ends of the necklace may or may not have been original, and the threads that the beads hung from were most likely not original. I therefore decided that it was okay to have it restrung and make it wearable.

    I think that you have done a great job restringing the one on the left. It is a dilemma whether to restore pieces that are in original but unwearable condition, or leave them as is. But the latter would prevent the object from serving it's main purpose. So I think that you have achieved an excellent compromise; photographing the item before you make a change, and then restringing in a sympathetic way.

  • Warm pieces, be it original or new creations. so warm with the dark coral iand the restrung one with its dark amber. Love the new  creation, so in style with a better balance. Can  see it on you. Gr. Ingrid.
