Please I need help to identify this ring ... thank you ;-)

Hello; I have recently bought this ring in a auction room.
I have tried to find any information about this kind of ring in in the book "world of ring" ... but I did found any information ... Does any one have any idea ?

    I agree with Alaa.  The word Nava means nine and ratna means gem. The nine gemstones and the planets that they represent in traditional Navaratna rings is shown below2506038206?profile=original

    I have had nava ratna rings they usually come in square or round bezel and all the stones are different from each others.....it is a tempting theory although i would doubt indians will use bronze for their jewelry ( not including here the less developped tribal people such as the khonds...ect). They will rather favour sterling silver and almost pure gold. I once was told by an indian friend that even 18kt gold is not worth investing into !!

    Hi,
    I think I found the answer in the book "world of rings" from Anne Van Cutsem.
    This kind of ring is may be called "nava ratna" : wedding ring with nine gems about indian planets.

    The middle of the ring evoque the yoni shape.

    What do you think ?

    That totally makes sense Zambezi cocktail....The selection at the auction house was indeed very central and South Asian oriented.

    I have seen similar vintage brass rings attributed to the Kuchi or Turkmen people of Afghanistan.  Image below shows such a ring being offered for sale.  The setting of the glass beads is similar.  I have seen something closer to your ring in terms of form, but I cannot remember where I saw it.  Let me keep searching ..2506050013?profile=original

    interesting, it seems to be the only ring around which does not have a solid ethnic background reference. So it might as well be an undocumented one.

    Medieval, byzantine or even antique rings were also made is less luxurious material such a brinze, copper or iron.

    I also though about medieval ring and byzantine

    At first sight, i tought about a medieval European ring, possibly even older. can you spot the crust.deposit encircling the stones in comparison to the very bright bronze (but i am assuming you have cleaned it), which is caracteristic of detection finds (objets de fouille).

    Are you sure there is no other similar ring in this lot....We would love to have a look at them if possible

    It's brass.


    There were a lot of rings ... may be it was the whole collection about 100 rings of a collectionner, divided in different lots. All of those rings are ethnic and vintage ... but this one is one of a kind ...

    Loove the fact of double beading the central part.

    Is it brass or gold ?

    Also it helps to know if it was sold alone at the auction house or together in a lot, as often pieces from the same lot have th same origin or the former owner gathered them following a particular scheme which helps identify the piece
