An appreciation of ethnic jewellery and adornment
Hello everyone,
I want to tell you all about a project that I have launched that aims to use jewelry as a way to help fund my teaching work in Marrakech. The project is called Zakat Jewelry and is named after the Muslim practice of giving. The project is centered around a line of jewelry which I am currently designing, which will be created by jewelers and artisans in Marrakech. Proceeds from jewelry sales will fund my teaching efforts and help women in Morocco learn the art of henna, a valuable skill they can use to support themselves and their families.
In April I was able to teach several Moroccan women the art of henna, which they weren't able to learn from anyone locally. All of these women now have training in an art that they can use to make a living for themselves and their families and children. Starting this jewelry business will allow me to earn the money that is needed to run more classes on an ongoing basis.
I am currently running a fundraising campaign through Indiegogo, a platform that is similar to Kickstarter. Please check it out and help in any way that you can! Thanks very much!

Thanks :)
